WAMD Instant Payment In Kuwait

What is WAMD instant payment in Kuwait?

WAMD is Kuwait’s instant payment service launched under the supervision of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and implemented via KNET .

Key Features:

• Link your mobile phone number (as an “alias”) to a bank account, so people can send you money using just your mobile number rather than full account details. 
• Send and receive funds instantly — 24/7 (including weekends and holidays). 
• Also supports requesting money (i.e., you can send someone a payment request).

How to Use WAMD

Here’s how you typically activate and use the service:

1. In your bank’s mobile banking app, locate the WAMD service (sometimes under “Transfers” or “Services”). 
2. Choose the account you wish to link to your mobile number for WAMD. 
3. Register your mobile number as the alias for WAMD (must match what the bank has on file). 
4. To send money, you select the recipient by their mobile number (if they are registered) or you may also send even if they’re not yet registered (depending on bank) — amount is transferred instantly once confirmed. 
5. To request money, you send a request to someone (both parties must be registered). The request typically expires after a set time (e.g., 24 hours).

Limits & Conditions

Some of the defined limits and conditions for WAMD in Kuwait include:

• Minimum transaction amount: KD 1 (Kuwaiti Dinar) in many banks. 
• Maximum per-transaction amount: KD 1,000 in some banks. 
• Daily maximum total: KD 3,000 in some banks. 
• Monthly maximum total: KD 20,000 in some banks. 
• Once a transfer is done via WAMD, the funds are considered final. Refunds or “reverse” transactions must be handled via the bank (within specified time).
